What is pestPlus?

IK Caldwell has purpose built a new database to manage the enormous amount of data we collect from our orchard trapping service. The database allows us to view actual data, trends and averages by pest type, districts, growers, orchards, crop types - right down to blocks.

One of the key features is the ability for the grower to view thier trap locations and catches by using a clickable map of their property. This can be done from any internet enabled computer.

This is a fantastic visual aid in determining where "hotspots" may be developing for different pest types in different parts of the orchard.

How do growers receive their trapping information?

There are three ways in which growers can access their trap information.

  • Web Access - A grower can log into the pestData system with a username and password to gain access to the current and previous seasons data.  Accessing data via the web also gives growers the option of viewing trap data via a map of their property. The map contains clickable icons for each trap and trap type. When an icon is clicked, all readings for that particular trap are displayed for the current season.
  • Emailed Reports - Growers can receive their trap information by fax via pestData's automatic emailing facility. The reports can display data for each trap in graph or table format (or both).
  • Faxed Report - Growers can receive their trap information by fax via pestData's automatic faxing facility. The reports can display data for each trap in graph or table format (or both).
